Who we are

The Catio Planner (thecatioplanner.com) is operated by Westernmost LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA, which decides how your data is used on this site and is responsible for it (the "controller"). "We" and "us" on this page mean Westernmost LLC.

Using the designer and the free designs

The Catio Planner does not have user accounts and does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details to use the catio designer or the free designs.

The cats and the catio sizes you enter are processed by code running in your own browser. They are not sent to us unless you buy a builder's plan (see below). When you share or bookmark a design, the settings are stored in the page address (the part after the question mark), so anyone you send the link to can open the same design. The free summary PDF from the designer, and the free PDF on each plan page, are generated on your device and saved where you choose. We never receive a copy.

If you buy a builder's plan

Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as our payment processor. You enter your card and contact details on Stripe's checkout page, not on ours, and we never see or store your card number. Stripe asks for your email address, name and billing address so it can take the payment, work out sales tax and prevent fraud, under its own privacy policy.

To make your plan, your design settings (catio type, sizes, cats and options) are sent to our server and stored with your payment record at Stripe. From Stripe we receive the email address, name and country you give at checkout, the amount paid, the tax and the payment status.

When the payment goes through, we keep an order record in our own database, hosted by Cloudflare: your email address, the design settings, the amounts paid and the tax, your country, the order status (including any refund or payment dispute) and when the plan was opened and downloaded. We use it to deliver your plan, to email you a receipt and links to it, to rebuild it whenever you ask, to answer you, to honor our plan error guarantee and refunds, and to keep the accounting and tax records the law requires, for as long as it requires them. We do not keep a copy of the PDF: it is generated each time you download it, with your email address printed in its footer. Order emails are sent from hello@thecatioplanner.com through Cloudflare's email service. We do not send you marketing email and we do not sell your data.

When you ask for a link on the Get my plan page, we store a one-way hash of the email address you typed and of your IP address for 24 hours, only to limit how many links can be requested, and we send the link only to the email address that bought the plan.

Measuring our ads

We advertise on Google. When you complete a purchase, the confirmation page tells Google Analytics and Google Ads that a purchase happened, with the order number, the price and the currency, so we can see which pages and ads lead to sales. It does not send your email address, name or design.

If you arrived from one of our Google ads and cookies are allowed, we keep the ad click identifier Google adds to the link (gclid, gbraid or wbraid) in your browser for up to 90 days, pass it to Stripe with your checkout and store it with your order. We may then send Google Ads that identifier with the order number, price and time of purchase, and tell Google when an order is refunded, so the purchase is counted against the right ad. We send Google no email address or name.

Cookies and similar storage

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and plans people use and how they find them. It collects data such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the type of device and browser, and your approximate location derived from your IP address. It receives the page address without your design settings. We use Google Ads to measure and show our ads. With your consent, these Google services set first-party cookies on thecatioplanner.com: Google Analytics cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, kept up to 2 years) and Google Ads cookies (named _gcl_aw, _gcl_gb and similar, kept up to 90 days), and Google may use its own cookies on its domains to show our ads to people who visited the site. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, nothing from Google loads until you choose "Allow" in the banner; "No thanks" keeps it off. Everywhere else, Google Analytics and Google Ads load by default, and you can turn them off. We use Google's consent mode: every Google setting starts as denied on each page and only changes to granted after your choice (or, outside Europe, unless you have turned them off).

You can change your choice at any time: cookie choices. The same link is in the footer of every page. Choosing "No thanks" stops Google Analytics and Google Ads on this site from then on and deletes the ad click identifier we kept in your browser. You can also use Google's ad settings, Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or clear your browser's site data for thecatioplanner.com.

The site also keeps a few small items in your browser's local storage: your cookie choice (tcp-analytics), whether the banner applies in your region (tcp-region, for the session), the ad click identifier described above (wm-click, only with consent) and a marker so a purchase is not counted twice (wm-purchase). If you buy a plan, we set one strictly necessary cookie, tcp_plan, when you open your plan: it lets that browser download it again for 14 days and holds your order number and a signature, nothing else.

Hosting and server logs

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Fonts are hosted on our own domain, so loading a page does not send requests to third-party font services.

If you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to reply and to fix what you report, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

Your rights

We use your data to perform our contract with you (your order), to meet legal duties (tax and accounting records), with your consent (analytics and ads cookies, where consent is needed) and for our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure. You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it (except what we must keep by law), or object to its use, by writing to hello@thecatioplanner.com. If you are in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
